I want to learn how to speak French but I don’t want a private tutor and I don’t want to go to a class. I would like a really good French program to learn, are there any online programs that you can recommend. Can I also learn without using CDs because I want to learn French properly?

There are some very good French programs online and they are an excellent way to learn to speak the language. However, if you want to learn properly you need CDs or at the very least audio files such as MP3 files. You need to listen to the pronunciation of words before speaking yourself, it’s not enough just to read words in a book and hope you pronounce the French words properly.

There are two programs that will suit you. The first one is called Rocket French and you can download this course to your computer and yes it has audio files which you can play on your computer or you can transfer to your MP3 player.

The second French program is by Pimsleur and this is a CD program. There are actually 4 levels available from Pimsleur Language Courses that take you from beginner to advanced.

Both these courses are ideal for French learning but you must use the audio files. You’re only alternative if you don’t want audio or CDs is to move to a French speaking country.
