I love teaching and I wouldn’t change it for anything else in the world.
However, knowing how to speak a language is not enough. You need ‘training’. That is, a college degree.
Why?
You need to learn how the language works, how students learn, methodology, psychology, didactics, phonetics, grammar, linguistics, sociolinguistics, well, I can’t remember all the subjects I had to take. I guess I should go through all the paper work I have.
When I entered College I wondered why and what for I needed to study all that. Believe me, it was only after graduating and starting to work that I started to value all the knowledge acquired.
Well, I’m going to stop here because what I really wanted to say is that to teach you need education and formal training. Those skills are absolutely essential if you want to become a Teacher. (Notice the capital letters!!!)
Go to for your state and city. If you city is not listed under the state listing, pick the nearest city. Post an ad every week in the Services > Lessons category. Be sure to be specific about what you charge and what city or town you live in. Don’t put your phone number or name. People who want your service will respond to the email.
